You are more Beautiful than you think.

Beauty is when you can appreciate yourself. When you love yourself, that’s when you’re most beautiful

According to a survey 4% women feel confident about their beauty and 96% hold themselves in low esteem. Dove decided to boost their self-confidence and carried out a social experiment.

Experiment consisted of a sketch artist who would draw portrait of women based on her self-description and then a stranger will be allowed to make acquaintance with those women and artist will draw her portrait again from stranger’s perception. Initially social scientists were skeptical about the success of this experiment but they embarked on it.

Finding a perfect artist was a difficult task but they eventually got to FBI trained forensic artist Gil Zamora. Who can draw a portrait by simply asking questions.

Women were allowed to interact with strangers. Gil would ask that women to describe herself and draw a portrait then Gil would ask stranger to describe that women again from their perception and draw another portrait. They results were totally two different portraits. One describe by strangers is more beautiful and realistic than the one described by a women which is less positive.

When they invited those women to take a look at those portraits they were enthralled and shocked to know that their self-description is less positive and their description by strangers is beautiful and more positive. This broke a lot of women into tears and they were emotional. The artist himself was amazed at shocking results he said

“What has stayed with me are the emotional reactions the women had when they viewed the composite sketches hung side by side. I think many of these brave women realized that they had a distorted self-perception that had affected parts of their lives in significant ways”

It went viral because it evokes emotions and establishes a bond. This campaign was different from other marketing campaigns it carried an emotional connection. The video got global fame and it was viewed 188 Million times and it deeply impacted women’s perception about themselves and continues to inspire them.

Dove was successful in its mission to make women feel better about themselves. Their campaign received global applause for this creative social experiment which had changed women’s perception.

The campaign concluded that “you are more beautiful than you think. It could be easy as seeing through strangers eyes.”
